Oh, Please. While there may be a few people out there that never use the WWW
and use a DOS based program to read Usenet, those are in a very small
minority. Almost all people who read Usenet (through whatever means) are
also quite capable of accessing web pages through various html-reading
browsers. The fact that you choose not to does not mean that the vast
majority of internet using people share your views. In fact, I'd hazard a
guess that there are far more people who use the WWW who have never even
heard of Usenet than vice-versa.
And lets be practical; there is buckets of information out there on various
breeds of cats, whether that info is on Usenet, on Web pages or even in
local libraries. What is *less* available is information on the methods and
techniques of breeding cats. Rpc.announce already holds the FAQs for many
breeds, if rpc.breeds is going to be successful in its own right, it needs
to offer something different than just more breed information to its
readers. While I *hope* that discussing breed traits etc in rpc.breeds would
not be off topic, I would trust that the main focus of the group would be a
discussion on the art of breeding rather than yet another place that holds
info about various breeds of cats.
