Ok, so I know I'm replying to an ancient thread but since       there was never a specific answer I thought i would provide       one (and this was one of my favorite episodes). It looks       like the very first color *laptop* computers were introduced       in 1989:              "WOOD DALE, Ill., Sept. 25-- The NEC Corporation introduced       what it said was the first color laptop computer available       in the United States. The company said it expects to start       shipping the laptop, the Prospeed CSX, in mid-October. It       will retail for $8,499 to $9,499, depending upon storage       capacity.              The computer uses the Intel Corporation's 80386SX       microprocessor and uses liquid crystal display technology to       provide 16 colors simultaneously from a palette of 64       colors, the company said. NEC said the laptop weighs 18.5       pounds, including the built-in power supply. The laptop is       15 inches wide, 14.4 inches deep and 4 inches high."              http://www.nytimes.com/1989/09/26/business/company-news-nec-show       -color-laptop-computer.html              So a color laptop certainly would not have been an       impossibility in 1989 (depending on exactly when in 1989       anyway...I can't recall if a specific date was given).                     --       http://www.megalextoria.com:1975              --       --> http://www.megalextoria.com/forum2 <--              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: Agency HUB, Dunedin - New Zealand | Fido<>Usenet Gateway (3:770/3)    |
