MH> I measured 28.99 when Irene passed next to use here in MD. That was
MH> the lowest barometer reading I have ever had on my weather station.

That's pretty low, but that 28.05 was about the lowest I've
seen of any tropical system, but I"ve only been paying that
close attention to about the last ten years, and that's one
of the lowest barometer readings I've ever seen that 28.05.
I think Katrina only got into the 970 millibar range iirc.
AW hell I could look probably, I"ve still got station logs
from first couple days at the hospital when we had power.
   I'll do that eventually here!

MH> Monday around 9am our cable was restored and we are back online.
MH> Many people around here are still without power and or cable. I
MH> have heard it will take all week to get to the 300k+ people that are
MH> still without power in the central MD area.

How'd Hagerstown fare? Got a good friend of mine i haven't
heard from out that way, been threatening to email him.

MH> It also seems to have effected my Micronet uplink (Andre Leary).
MH> His system has been offline also.

NOt surprised, she went inland more than was expected.
That's good in one respect as that it diminished her power a bit. We've got
Katia out there now, will be curious what
she does over next couple of days. I note a lot of the
cruisers aren't really putting out yet that went inland up
rivers etc. with their boats. I made a phone call Saturday
morning for a guy in N.C. who took his boat up Vandevere
creek wherever that is to ride it out.
A couple live aboards I talk to on the eastern seaboard up
toward NEw YOrk were moving to safer anchorages inland as
   well Saturday.

MH> Lots of large trees down all over the place. My mom had 8 large
MH> trees fall - one crushed her deck.

YEp, seen that sort of thing. That's what nailed my place,
the tree damage in Katrina, then they turned on the power,
and where the electrical service entered the house is where
it caught fire. Had I found a shutoff outside the house I
   would've used it.

MH> We picked up 4.32 inches of rain at my house. I have all the stats
MH> on my website, since the weather station has batteries and continued
MH> to log the data while my power and internet were out.

. What was your highest wind gust?

MH> It is good to be back..

YEp, I didn't listen to the hurricane watch net, which is
all the guys with wx measurement stuff reporting into the
national hurricane center as I wouldn't have herad you guys
in coast Md and Va. much, until it got further north you
guys would have been inside my skip zone.

   Regards,
              Richard
