   Hi Nancy,

   >> You must be in Massachusetts... here in upstate NY, the state is under

   >> wow.. I missed that completely during "the storm".. In the Ithaca area
   >> it was just the same-old same-old.. maybe we got about a foot and a
   >> half of snow (looked cool)..

   > I only happened to catch it on the radio in the quick news break...
   > Governor Cuomo announced the state of emergency for the whole state, but
   > didn't close any roads... he said it was to allow for better control of
   > the situation as the local governments saw fit...

I can undstand that one. I expect local governments can have their hands tied
fund-wise until a disaster is declared.

   >Pretty much same-old
   > same-old here, too... :) But it was pretty nasty down around NYC...

Yes, saw the reports.. my old 'stomping grounds' in Warwick NY (SE Ny, about
45 minutes from NY city) also got it pretty bad.

   >> we paid the neighborhood kid to shovel us
   >> out.. Ron told him "here's 20 bux, shovel what you think is fair"..
   >> This great kid shoveled us out completely :)

   > Nice. :)

Yeah, it's always great to have teenagers live around you Lol These kids are
so quiet normally around here, I forgot they lived down the street 'til he
came to the door that day :)

   >> Then it rained.. warm rain.. and all the snow went away.. today, we
   >> have the sad remains laying about (well sad if you were a snowman
   >> ).

   > We've still got some snow around... didn't get too much rain, mostly
   > just clouds and threatenings... what I really don't like is ice...
   > fortunately there's not too much of that...

Our snow (what there is of it that's left) now is full of gaps, holes,
uncovered brush, dead lawn, etc. :) Temperatures have been darn low though..
brrr.... but today should be decent when it gets up to the predicted 32F..
Now, Friday.. we're going to have a heatwave with temps hitting 37F! (hehe)

   > I didn't think we'd really need to stock up, but we usually do our
   > grocery shopping on Fridays, and by then we need milk and other basics,
   > so putting things off isn't advisable... especially if the next day is
   > supposed to be worse...

I guess anytime we hear about 'weather issues', we do try to stock up
   somewhat..

I mean, imagine this house with coffee beans!! :) :)

The nearest place to get decent coffee beans is in Ithaca, 10 minutes away
   driving time .

   >> Still waiting for spring-ish temps though.. darn it's cold.. Guess
   >> it's February. :)

   > Welll.... yeah... ;) Give it a coupla months... ;)

Yep, March is not that far off, thanks goodness.

   Take care,
   Janis
