HI Mark,              On Mon 2011-Aug-15 20:06, Mark Hofmann (1:261/1304) wrote to Richard Webb:              RW> We've been a bit cooler here last few       RW> days though, so maybe that's going to help things out a bit.              MH> I'm going to go on the record with the opposite forecast.. :)               MH> The strengthening La Nina tends to minimize east coast hurricanes.        MH> It also has the tendancy to give us very snowy winters. The last       MH> strong La Nina winter gave us (3) blizzards. This was just two       MH> years ago.               You could well be right. Very very strange stuff, but I've       been threatening to turn off the darned air conditioning and open windows at       night it's been so darned nice around here.       Only reason I don't is the humidity and Kathy's breathing       difficulties, because if we're on that line humidity or temp wise she wakes up       in the night coughing and gasping, where       if I just spin the dreaded watt/hourr meter on the back of       the house she sleeps good. I sure like good fresh air for       sleeping though.              Looks like Gert's going to blow herself out over open waters without getting       past tropical storm strength which lends       even more to your theory on that one I think, they seem to       be consistently doing that this year. I note a lot of the       cruisers I work with are keeping the boat tied up at the       dock wherever they've landed most recently. I don't think       I've seen one of them file a shiptrak report since last       Friday.              Regards,        Richard       ---        * Origin: (1:116/901)    |
