I'll have to ask our radio club's pet meteorologist about
that one if I see him at a meeting. That's an interesting
thought. There's another guy active on 14300 khz that was a U.S> navy meteo
guy I'll maybe query on that one as well.

Trouble with me is, when I lived in the midwest I paid
attention to those systems only if there was radio ops
involved, and had the big snows anyway in Iowa. Then I
moved to NEw ORleans, didn't pay that much attention to the
snow but found myself paying doubly close attention to the
tropical weather stuff. Now I'm sorta betwixt the two
environments, but I still maintain the area is more like the midwest in
climate, just a bit more moderate winters.

MH> That is why I get excited when I don't see many hurricanes.. :)

YEp, I can always do without the snow and ice though,
especially around here, the folks just aren't equipped for
it. IN the upper midwest the utility companies trim back
trees that might endanger power distribution during such
events, where down here they don't worry as much about it,
and then there's the driving ...

MH> It will be hard to top our winter from two years ago when we picked
MH> up 94" of snow for the season. Complete with (3) blizzards, (2) of
MH> them in the same week!

YEp, we did above average snowfall that winter too iirc. I
spent a lot of that winter camped at hospitals with Kathy,
   not fun.

   Regards,
