Sounds like a bit of fun. IF I were landlord here I'd find
something, some variety of fescue or something (I think
that's what it's called) that doesn't need as much sun,
because of all the tree cover. But then, if i were
landowner I'd do something about all the wood overhead that
needs a thinning out, but the storms last year and year
before have done plenty for clearing deadwood out of trees.
But, with all the tree cover overhead we've got patchy turf, little in the
front, and a bit on the hillside in back of
   the house.

Trouble with the front is that it slopes downhill to the
street, and the solution for that soil erosion has been
railroad tie barriers which shift over time. Were it me,
I'd try to find a plant that gets a good root hold and
doesn't suffer if sunlight levels are a bit low because of
all the foliage overhead. But, that's me, and, I don't own
   it ,grin>.

RW> YEah, guy I know in Virginia just got his power on this

YEp, emailed my buddy in hagerstown just before i conversed
wtih you on this, adn got email back from him. HE's in good shape, but his
mom in Ohio was without services.

MH> Now that the major heat wave has let up for the time being, we are
MH> still in need of some rain. Somehow we didn't get any rain when the
MH> front passed through. There is a change of some afternoon storms
MH> later this week - and we could use the rain.

We've gotten a taste of rain, and the heat's let up a little bit finally. Now
I'm frustrated by another weather related
problem and radio noise thanks to a power company problem.
Dry conditions that persist mean somethign is arcing on one
of the utility poles around here, and it's radiating down
the power lines making my usual radio direction finding
techniques unreliable. NOw that we've had a bit of moisture I note it's gone.

I'm hoping that it was some homeowner's equipment or
something, and it crumpled and died, just so it's not
broadcasting hash and trash down the grid, but still think
it's a utility co thing. We'll see if it comes back, but it disappeared just
before teh bit of rain yesterday again, and hasn't appeared since.
We'll be going out later, were going to go to a meeting in
the city last night, but it was looking like severe wx so we stayed home.

   Regards,
              Richard
