NB>> the big guns for the bed yet...

RW> Keeps me running the heat less too actually, rather do it
RW> with bedding than with burning fuel. Also remember we've

It helps that we have a heated waterbed... ;)

RW> one wall heater, we're in a part of the world where they
RW> still get winter in actuality but folks don't grok how to
    RW> live with it .
RW> Insulation, what's that? . WHole house heating etc. is a rarity
    RW> it seems.

Maybe it's more for rentals that it's a rarity? I'd think that
homeowners would be more inclined to do the insulation, especially
if they were able to get tax rebates for the energy conservation
   measures...

RW>> steaks I bought a couple months ago when that salesman came to the
RW>> door selling them, he came close to getting the bum's rush, but he
RW>> talked real fast, and i'd like to throw them on the charcoal grill once
RW>> more before it gets too cold. See what happens Thanksgiving day,
RW>> since we're too broke for a turkey or a ham this year that'll be a
RW>> thanksgiving day treat if the weather cooperates.
NB>> Without any added expense, besides... :) Don't know what your
NB>> forecast is, but for here it's supposed to be sunny and warmer...
    NB>> quite pleasant.

RW> Looking that way, rainy and overcast through tomorrow, in
RW> fact I'm holding off on a couple of errands until tomorrow
RW> to avoid the rain. Had thunderstorms Sunday and Monday
    RW> morning about 5:00 a.m.

So did your weather cooperate after all...? It was a tad cooler than
promised, but otherwise was quite pleasant on Thanksgiving... and then
it was lovely Friday and Saturday. We did have some late rain today,
but it wasn't too bad... I didn't have to be out in it... ;)

RW> YEah even in the upper midwest where you get it, oftentimes
RW> sidewalks aren't well cleared, and often the bus stop is a
RW> snowdrift . EVen the snow i don't mind wading through,
RW> it's the ice underfoot I don't care for, that and the cold .

Ice I don't care for, but the cold I can bundle up against. :)

RW> But around here, no buses even, so a trip to the grocery
RW> store with Kathy's down means throw a backpack on my back
RW> and walk 2 miles, one way.

That's a bit of a trek, even in pleasant weather... :)

RW>> I dearly detest it, so much so that I"ve told family members don't even
RW>> bother to die or get married between OCtober and June, cause I won't
    RW>> be there .
NB>> Not even May? ;) Surely it's better by then... :)

RW> iT's starting to get toward acceptable, but i've seen some
RW> good ones up north even in April.

They don't tend to last long by then, though. I do remember a Mother's
Day snowfall... rather sad, but it really didn't stick around more than
a day if that... just was not so nice to wake up to... ;)
