|    WWIV Development Picking Up Steam    |
|    04 Jul 14 05:31:40    |
Greetings!              It's almost the end of another week and things have been picking up steam in       WWIV Development.              Last week, we heard from Craig Dooley, author of WWIVToss, giving us a nod       in continuing development of WWIVToss, and possibly open sourcing it. We'll       try to get more details about the extent of this. Work has begun on a new       setup tool for this important WWIV utility that allows WWIV BBSes to       participate in FidoTech Networks.              Rushfan has been working hard on a working INIT for WWIV 5 BBS, and it is       currently in more than useable condition on all our target platforms. We've       decided to move out some of the functions of INIT to a script (batch file or       shell script) to ease the setup of new systems. INIT has gotten to the       point where one no longer has to set up WWIV 4.30 prior to installing WWIV       5.00.              Two of the WWIV Project's new developers, GranitePenguin and Xenos, have       made their first check-ins/commits to the codebase and have been busy       helping Rushfan clear out our BUGS list.              Rushfan has also started work on porting forward built-in QWK support to       WWIV 5.00. This is certainly one of those developments that a lot of us are       looking forward to seeing.              Matt Munson continues to submit bug reports and doing testing of the new       builds.              In other news, WWIVnet was affected by the sytes.net (No-IP) domain seizure by       Microsoft. However, WWIVnet NC, Eli Sanford, acted quickly and set up       wwivbbs.com as an alternate domain for Dynamic DNS use by WWIVnet nodes. If       your WWIV was affected by the domain seizure, you may use wwivbbs.com to set       up a domain for your WWIV. Contact Eli #1@1.WWIVnet for updates to your BBS       record.                            --- WWIVToss v.1.50         * Origin: Aliens' Alcove2: telnet://aliens.free.net.ph (3:633/408.0)    |
