EV>> BK> My first PC was a portable, sold by some company I don't
EV>> BK> remember. I bought the portable so I could take it to work.
   EV>> BK> They
EV>> BK> had no expansion capability, but a plug for an external
EV>> BK> expansion bus. They never sold the external bus, couldn't get
EV>> BK> FCC clearance. Most likely, too much interference.

EV>>Bob, Was it a Grid Luggable PC?
EV>>A Friend of mine who worked for COuthern Bell bought the one
EV>>he used from the Co. after they gave him a laptop.

It was about the size and weight of a modern laptop, but without
the display, and not much else we have now. It wasn't bad, just
    not expandable.

TW> Whan I hear "Luggable" PC/s IO think of Compaq, Osborne and
TW> Kaypro. Never had one for freinds have had then. As I recal
TW> the Keyporo was the most sducessful and becasue both the
TW> Osborne and the Kaypro were popular and used the CPM
TW> operating system thare was a lot of Free software that I
TW> could run on my Commodore 128 in CPM Mode. ---

I had a Kaypro for a short time. Then had an old one from a
co-worker who died. Got rid of them both. Never did get much use
    out of them.

There was a book store near here, nice place, that decided to
push profits by dealing computers on the side. They went with
    the Osborne.

Not too long after they went out of business. I don't know if
the computers had much to do with that, but I did thing dealing
in a produce you know nothing about is a bad idea. Esp for a
    small business.
