   Bob, I do not know the specs on your laptop. I have a toshiba sattelite with a   
   pentimum III 1.10 ghz processor and 512 mb ram that dual boots to Ubuntu 12.04   
   and WINXP. I am also running an old gateway desktop with a 3 ghz processor and   
   2 gb of ram. The desktop is a Ubuntu 12.04 system with Oracle VM Virtual   
   Machine running WINXP. The VM is using 512 mb of ram and is running the   
   Fidonet mailer that I am using to answer this message. By using the VM I am   
   able to have the best of both worlds, Linux and Windows, at the same time. I   
   am running the WINXP VM in the background to move mail for NET 2215 and do all   
   my other work on Ubuntu at the same time.
