    JP> Hello, Dale.

I was looking into simplified XP, with directions for removing
windows explorer and replacing it with a substitute. According to
the sites I looked at Explorer is a memory hog. Some of the
substitutes, actually most, do not have a start button. I have
been trying one of the subs, Litestep, but haven't had enough
time to evaluate it. The sites also suggest using program
manager, progman.exe, as the shell. Haven't worked that out yet.

    I have shellon.exe as a shell swapper.

DS>> I am still on WinXP Pro, but hardly ever use the Start button. I detest
    DS>> the Start Menu.
