   Maybe.... or maybe not.

Certainly, the user experience (on touch screen/tablets) seems like it will be
far better than with earlier versions of Windows - with the base OS and with
software designed for the new Metro interface.

Things however quickly become more complex:

-- reports of touch-use of the Release Preview suggest that even with
the base OS (etc) gestures are not as well-developed as in, say, iOS.

-- there will be confusion between tablets based on ARM-style CPUs,
which will run so-called Windows RT, lack backwards compatibility with legacy
Windows software, but have better battery life and a lower price and tablets
using standard Intel/AMD CPUs - which will run standard Windows 8 and be
backwards compatible to classic Windows software.

That classic Windows software, however, won't work well on a touch-screen
(just as with Windows on tablets up to now) - perhaps the reason why
Microsoft's Surface tablets have keyboards/trackpads built into the covers.
Intel-tablet pricing is expected to be in line with current Ultrabooks:
   $800-1000.

These may prove to be a success - especially with businesses, but we'll have
   to wait and see!
