   Without reading through it (am posting from mobile) what I would tell you is   
   that my experience tuning HD performance in linux is consistent with disabling   
   these updates, and only updating on writes.   
      
   In other words, if this setting pertains to reading files, it probably isn't   
   super valuable to update your filesystem on those events and disabling it will   
   extend the life of your hd.
