   I had a remedy for things like that. Already B4 getting married I began   
   teaching the code to my then girlfriend, and after marriage to take the   
   ham license so that we could communicate without using commercial comms.   
      
   That possibility was very handy since I could tell her that I was still   
   alive after the boat or auto races and the result of the race while I   
   was on my way back home with either the boat or car on a trailer behind.   
      
   Most of those races were run in Sweden and Finland and one Scandinavian   
   Championship race in Norway.   
      
   She never objected to cables through window sills because she knew they   
   were necessary to get on the air.
