   If it is a roller mouse, open the bottom of it, no tools necessary, let   
   the ball fall out and clean out the accumulated dust. Reassemble.   
      
   In the case of an infrared mouse there may be dust blocking the IR   
   transmitter - receiver, so open up that one too and blow the dust out.
