   Have you ever played with Linux. My luck with that is like Ed's but if   
   you can get the hang of it it works pretty good.Wil have to give up some   
   of your most favored programs though. But for internet E mail etc is   
   can work out quite well.   
   I have Puppy Linux on a flash drive for an emergency boot and internet   
   use.   
   OF course your BIOS needs to be USB boot capable.
