I'd suggest running       Darik's boot and nuke disk (http://www.dban.org) or any other wiping tool       first. Depending on the hardware, it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes or       so, and any data will be difficult to recover off the drive.              Kudos to you for wanting to update it before selling it - too many older,       unpatched PCs are in the wild, waiting to get exploited.              I suppose you have 3 options:              1. Wipe the drive, sell the computer with a bare drive, COA sticker and a       recovery CD.              2. Wipe the drive, re-install Windows and update it to the latest/greatest.              3. Wipe the drive, install Linux, sell the computer with a COA and recovery       CD if the user wants to DIY.              If you have the time, I'm sure the buyer would appreciate option 2 or 3,       but all 3 seem appropriate.              --kW                      kurt weiske ³ kweiske@realitycheckbbs.org        ³ 1:218/700@fidonet                            ...
