   As oddly the visual tabs had disappeared, they reappeared!  All is fine now.    
   Also..  a correction to the above: Alt-Tab should be Ctrl-Tab.   
      
   BTW..  I discovered that Ctrl-Q does a nice visual rendering of all the tabbed   
   pages - very similar result to W7's technique when hovering over the tabs.
