   I don't think XP's built-in USB 2.0 ports will service a USB 3     
   extender and somehow miraculously produce USB 3 compatibility.   
      
   You probably need to install a USB 3 board on your XP pc first.   
      
   I explored such a thing for my T60 laptop, via PCMCIA, several     
   years ago and gave up.
