I use Irfanview to print images.

I bought a Digital Camera Eleven Years ago.
Here's what happened the first time I printed a photo from the
   SD Card my camera uses.

I put a 4" X 6" sheet of Glossy Photo Paper in the Ink Jet Printer
and was disappointed at the results because I had placed it in the
   Paper Tray like this:
               ________
              | |
              |________|

I didn't know that the printer expected the paper to be put in
   like this:
              ____
             | |
             | |
             | | so the whole image would get put on the paper.
             |____|

Only about [4"] of the photo got printed on that piece of EXPENSIVE
   GLOSSY Photo Paper.

Another Learning Experience about using a Computer.

To Me, putting the paper in the Paper Tray as I had first done
would have shortened the time the print job took - because the
print head would move 6 inches across the paper, and the platen
wouldn't advance the paper as many time.

   DUH!, what was I thinking.
   "I WAS" using a Printer attached to a COMPUTER wasn't I?
Computers do what THEY want to do not as the Operator desired. DUH!

Today, after printing a 4 X 6 image an idea came to Ed's Head [TM].
After pressing CTRL P, on the Print Preview window I selected
Landscape, Best fit to page (aspect ratio) and set the Units to
inches and then clicked the Printer setup [Button].

In the Print Setup window I selected '4 x 6 in' and clicked the
Properties [Button] and selected - Photo Paper Glossy, and clicked
the Check Box for Print Preview.

After clicking [OK] buttons twice, the Print Preview window
showed 'Resulting image size on paper' was: 5.02 x 3.77 inches .

I clicked the [Printer setup] Button and changed the '4 x 6 in'
   setting to 'Letter (8 1/2 x 11 in)' then clicked [OK] .

The Print Preview window now showed the changed paper size setting
so I clicked the Portrait selection.
Next I clicked the Custom selection under 'Print size' and entered
the Height as 3.77 and made sure the Aspect ratio Box was checked.

After I clicked the [Print] Button the Preview window showed the
image would print just I had always wanted the Printer to do.

   Just Bragging, He He He.
Hope MY B-I-G Idea is of help to Somebody else.
