   Howdy! Holger,

    HG> @MSGID: <57FA1E99.14869.windowsa@capcity2.synchro.net>
HG> In a message on Saturday 10-07-16 Paul Quinn said to Holger Granholm:

    HG> Good evening Paul,

PQ> Spot on, Holger! Good evening to you too.

    HG> Thanks.

HG> Knowing that Jean recently had a blockage in the arteries from/to the
HG> heart, and that he is only one year younger than I, makes me worry about
    HG> how he's recovering.

PQ> If he'd reading (and I do know he is), then he is fine and doing
    PQ> well.

HG> I can only hope that he's doing as well as I, since I had the same
HG> trouble in 2008, and still doing the daily (except rainy) 10 km nordic
HG> walks, or 40 km bike tours, and snow permitting 10 km ski tours.

Thanks for letting me know about Jean.
At least Paul knows Jean is logging in to His BBS.

PQ>> Ahmm... the "Great Race" is on this weekend, Holger.

HG> I do however expect a new weekly listing today, .......

I am not a fan of Automobile Racing, but I hope You and Paul like watching
the races, and the Drivers all drive across the Finish Line.
   -snip-
HG> On the Windows front, I'm progressing, and hoping it wouldn't do its
HG> old-time-tricks of suddently removing programs.

    PQ> I gave up on Windows 8.1 after I got a pop-up from Hewlett-Packard
PQ> advising that the warranty had expired, and, also being bugged by
PQ> Avast warnings about renewing my registration.

HG> The other day, Windows 10 decided to upgrade, by itself on the
HG> stationary machine. I still don't know if that was the anniversary
HG> upgrade that I have read about, but ZoneAlarm, nor AVG did inform me,
    HG> about an incoming connection,

I run XP and Vista and gonna stay with them after reading comments on
askwoody.com about Microsoft changing Win7 updates to be like WinTen does,
"Get 'Em All In One Big File", No Option to choose from those that are
   proven to be Safe.

I recently learned their MSRT program isn't offered for my XP box any more.
Vista is as low as MS offers that utility.

I was thinking that MS would at least still offer that Malicious Software
Removal Tool for the XP box but my experience the other day taught me
that they don't care to protect what they sell.

And I'm too cheap to buy a pc with a 'Newer' OS that MS wants to Control
   from their HQ.

When I got the Commodore 64 back in 1984, I was wanting to learn what makes
them work. I ain't done it yet, but I'm still at it.

I hope You can Tame the savage beast.
