   W95 Notebook Update
   25 Aug 16 18:20:00

   Howdy! Ben,

A long time ago I found a W98SE CD for a Gateway 2000 PC at a flea market.

I tried to use it in a Virtual Box but it complained that I wasn't using
it on a Gateway 2000 COMPUTER, and it wouldn't RUN, so I couldn't use it.

My other Acer Notebook has Vista Home on it and I thought I could use it
to fool the W95 Recovery CD and get it to store the Recovery info and
the data on the Windows 95 CD that came with the notebook.

First I made TWO Backups for the Vista, One with Acronis True Image and
Another with Macrium Reflect, just in case something happened.

After the Backups were done I put the Win95 Recovery CD into the Vista
CD Tray and turned the Notebook On.

I ran the SETUP program that is on the CD but it couldn't be used on the
   newer notebook.

I was hopeing that I could get the Recovery Data and the Windows 95 Data
on the HDD that You sent me, but it failed to do it.

I don't know if the BIOS has software to drive the LCD Display when the
   pc is turned On?
I'm guessing that may be the HDD has to have the W95 Video Drivers on it
to show the BIOS Setting on the Display when I turn the notebook On?????

I have been thinking of trying the SUBST or ASSOC Command(s) from a CMD
Prompt to make Your HDD look like it is the C: drive/partition to see if
that would do the job and then putting that HDD in the Windows 95 Notebook
and try again to see if it will make the thing work.

I'll try Ubuntu in a VM one more time to see if I can figure out some way
to load Your HDD with the Win95 files.

As mentioned, I may have broken a wire in one of the Flat Cables inside
the W95 pc, I hope not.
I tried being very careful while inside the Notebook, because I never have
took one apart to Service it, and those flat cables looked very delicate.

If my efforts fail and I can't get the files needed on Your HDD, I might
send the HDD back to You with the Acer Recovery CD and Windows 95 CD that
came with the notebook to see if You have any success.

I will send enough "Stamps" to get it to You, and get my CD's, with or w/o
Your HDD, sent back to me.

Another Thought, I've made ISO's of both of the CD's.
The Recovery CD is 400MB, the Windows 95 CD is 625MB.

I'm not sure if a file of that size can be sent as an attachment in Email?
Anyway that is the other thought I had instead of mailing the two CD's with
   the HDD.

I heard about the Flooding in Louisiana, hope You and Yours aren't affected
   by it.

Also if You don't have the time to play with my w95 project I will just send
the HDD back to You (with the "Stamps"),
and I will call it a "Lession Learned".

Thanks for all Your Help and the Help that Others gave to me.
