In a message on Thursday 06-01-16 Paul Quinn said to Holger Granholm:

   Good day Paul,

PQ> Ah, I would have thought the same thing; Winton's location comes
PQ> immediately to mind as being in Queensland. I checked with uncle
PQ> Google and it turned up another in Victoria, with the proper
   PQ> 'credentials'. :)

Yes, after listening several times to the start of the program, the
commentator says a name beginning with 'A', being 220 miles NNE from
Melbourne. Even though I'm not convinced that the name I heard, is
correct, the only name within that distance from Melbourne is Albury.

It's on the border between Victoria and NSW. On the map it's impossible
to state whether it's in Victoria or NSW.

PQ> The Benalla Auto Club (Victoria) had the Winton Motor Raceway built
PQ> in the early 60s. Of interest to you I'm sure, Dick Johnson once
PQ> described the circuit being 'like running a marathon around your
   PQ> clothes-line'.

   Thanks for the information.

PQ> Thank you. It's raining. First day of winter and we're having a
PQ> cold 'snap', 24C max with a "shower or two".

Congratulations for the rain! We almost never hear/read of rain in
Australia. Mostly we get to know about draught and bushfires.

We are in a bad need of rain here. Since may 15th, when we got 40mm rain,
we have got nothing. Only the nightly dew is still keeping the nature
   green.

Several rain areas, that were supposed to give us rain, have circum-
vented the islands. The same goes for the swedish island Gotland, where
they have now had to restrict the use of water.

This week, the afternoon temperatures here, have been 20-25øC, and in
the early mornings, above 15C. For the weekend they have forecast a dip
of nearly 10C, but thereafter again up to the 20's.

   Have a nice evening,

   Holger
