   My generation of people on this side of "the pond", don't know much   
   about inches, feet or miles because they don't have any use of that   
   knowledge.   
      
   Regarding myself, having been interested in ham radio in the early   
   teens, and having access only to american litterature/magazines, in the   
   matter, understanding that ancient system of measures, was necessary.
