   Good morning Roger,

but unlike me you probably use UTC as date stamp or else you get up very
   early in the morning.

HG> shut down by the Windows installation but can be re-instated by
HG> running the FDisk of OS/2.

RN> "We have seen the enemy and he is us."

That is if you get OS/2 installed. I'm fighting an uneven fight with my
ThinkPad T61. So far it's winning the fight but I have not yet used all
   my tricks.

RN> I know. You may not remember I ran OS/2 since the December 1992

   No I don't recall that.

RN> I really liked about it is that if a power failure occurred, any and
RN> all programs that were running at the time were restarted when power
   RN> was restored.

Yes, that's the way it works. It only makes an extra tour of CHKDSK if
it was not shut down properly. OTOH, I have this machine running from an
   APC 500 UPS.

HG> the XP/pro I have to the ThinkPad I'm presently trying to install
    HG> OS/2 on.

RN> It's worse than Usenet. (-8 Do you realize that XP is no longer
   RN> supported?

Yes I know, but it still works .

RN> I figured that, but I can't install Warp on this machine. I've
   RN> tried.

I know, or I'm learning that at the moment. So far all the OS/2 installs
and updates (FixPaks) I have done have worked without a hitch but this
stubborn laptop is using too much of my time.

There's a saying: "When I retire, I will do all the things I've not had
time to do before", the problem is that everything takes so much longer.

RN> I'm too old to learn Linux and the one time I did install it, I
RN> found the serial rputines were too buggy for me, ......

I've done that too. It's like an artist replied to a question why he
had'nt aquired a new female to his household after his wife deceased,
he replied "I'm too old to teach up a new maid". This is a true story
that I overheard in the barbershop while waiting for my time.

HG> Windows 10 feels tempting and I've been promised the laptop of my
HG> grandson as a XMas gift. That will be complete with Win10.

RN> It does have some "goodies" in it, is somewhat intuitive, but you
RN> have to be careful upon installing that too much of your personal
RN> information is not made available to M$ or anyone else. This can be
RN> accomplished by going through the setup in the Control Panel and
RN> turning off some of its defaults.

Yes, I know. If something goes awry in XP it always asks if should
contact M$. Other possible personal traps also appear in various
   programs.

   RN> Merry Christmas!

   Thanks!

   Have a nice day,

   Holger
