    I had one, back in the early 2000s late 90s.   
      
    We were standing around in the kitchen, my two youngest   
    daughters and me. There was a loud boom and we felt a charge in   
    the air. Didn't see it, just knew it was out front from the   
    sound. No visible damage.   
      
    Later I tried to use the phone, and it didn't work. Called the   
    phone company from a neighbor's phone, and the repairman gave me   
    the cooked piece of wire.   
      
    The insulation was all intact, no copper in small section.   
      
    Later I discovered my VCR was dead, and my TV Tuner/Video card   
    had cooked. That was the total damage.
