I have changed to        portable apps as much as possible. Just set up second app        partition, and install all your programs there in portable form.        There are a lot available. That way, if anything happens to your        OS drive, all the programs are still there, ready to go as soon        as you reinstall the OS. I just have a copy of my desktop in the        app partition, copy it back to the new desktop directory and you        are back in business.               It does leave you haveing to reinstall some programs, maybe.               The maybe is because I do an image of my OS partition when I        have it set up how I want it. Instead of doing a complete        reinstall, I just reinstall the image. Back to where I wanted it        to begin with. I keep all saved files on a storage partition.               That also eliminates the need to copy back the desktop, except        for changes done after the image was made. It's amazing how        little actually needs to go on your OS partition.              BOB KLAHN bob.klahn@sev.org http://home.toltbbs.com/bobklahn              ...
