I even sent the machine to a trusted friend who uses OS/2       RN> and it wouldn't install for him, either. There are drivers available to make the        HG> installation possible.               HG> Installing on a FAT system requires special considerations        HG> regarding the HD size and size of partitions while the HPFS has no        HG> limits.                HG> The HighPerformanceFileSystem was developed by Microsoft and IBM        HG> together but when their partnership ended M$ took the system along        HG> and renamed and changed it so that it wasn't compatible with HPFS.                HG> Also, if you want to use the built-in OS/2 Boot Manager you will        HG> have to install it first. When you install Windows later it will        HG> disengage the Boot Manager but you will get it back by just        HG> starting the OS/2 FDisk program again. It's still on the HD.              I know all of the above, Holger. I used OS/2 since the December 1992 beta was       released to the public. I then bought Warp 3 after I attended an IBM seminar       and also LotusSuite for OS/2 at the same time. I still think I need older       hardware. I even tried eCS, but found it lacking in some areas and too pricey       for me, so Warp 4 sits on the self along with Warp 3. My OS/2 2.1 and 2.11       diskettes are long gone after the storm of 2005.               HG> Have a nice day,              You too.                     Regards,              Roger        --- timEd/386 1.10.y2k+        * Origin: NCS BBS - Houma, LoUiSiAna - (1:3828/7)    |
