|    Installing OS/2    |

In a message dated 06-28-15, Roger Nelson said to Ed Vance:              Hi Roger,               EV> I took a look at OS/2 Warp on EBay before writing my reply.               EV> Upgrades to Warp 3 that I can't use either since I don't have OS/2        EV> v2 . I also saw Warp 4 there.              No, you can't, you will have to use a full installation.       With a full version you should also receive the manuals and it pays to       read the instructions.                     RN> I have Warp 4 here (I forget the release number) and it won't       RN> install. I even sent the machine to a trusted friend who uses OS/2       RN> and it wouldn't install for him, either. I think it's a hardware       RN> problem and I need something less advanced than what I now have.       RN> Probably eCS would work, but I don't feel like doling out more cash       RN> for it, as I am about to upgrade to Windows 10.              Usually the installation disks have to be modified for installation on       modern computers. There are drivers available to make the installation       possible.              Installing on a FAT system requires special considerations regarding the       HD size and size of partitions while the HPFS has no limits.              The HighPerformanceFileSystem was developed by Microsoft and IBM       together but when their partnership ended M$ took the system along       and renamed and changed it so that it wasn't compatible with HPFS.              Also, if you want to use the built-in OS/2 Boot Manager you will have to       install it first. When you install Windows later it will disengage the       Boot Manager but you will get it back by just starting the OS/2 FDisk       program again. It's still on the HD.              Have a nice day,              Holger              ---        þ MR/2 2.30 þ To err is Human.
