Tom,              That sounds like a good plan.              One Ham I know told me he Wipes and Reinstalls everything every few       months on his HDD.       He said his computer works better when he does that.              I've never wanted to do that, if it works don't mess with it. - TW              A few weeks ago I defragged my HDD, it has been a long time since I've       taken the time to do that.              I Booted up after a Shut Down and watched the Cyborg Blue Light move 56       times before it paused, and then the Cyborg did 2 more left to right       scans and finally let me see the Log On screen. Not Fun!              Why didn't IBM/Microsoft put everything needed to start up the pc in       ROM like the Commodore 64 and 1541 FDD does.       That seems like a better way to me.              Dial Up Modems have EEPROMS in them.       (Electrical Eraseable Programmable Read Only Memory)              I don't know if the modems OS is on that chip or not, it may be only       used for storing the users perferred settings.       You or Someone else here will clue me in.              After somebody (Jean???) talked about using Hibernation instead of       Shutting Down their pc, I started doing that and found that I can use       my computer a lot sooner after POST is finished.       (Power On Self Test)              73              ...
