RN> When I was a child, we were taught to count the seconds between the       RN> strike and the thunder. I got pretty good at it, but it was easier for me       RN> to count backwards than forwards. That way I knew I was within a       RN> millisecond of the actual strike. It's when counting those seconds       RN> forward and you don't get to 2, I worry about. We had one a few days ago       RN> that was very close, but didn't even make my UPS yell "Uncle", but scared       RN> the bejesus out of my daughter's cat and me. I didn't get to count. (-:              I still use that method. Counting the seconds after the lightning to know how       many miles away the strike/storm is located.               If you can't count a second, consider it to be right overhead. Those are       typically the ones that scare the *#$@ out of me and rumble the entire       house/windows.              - Mark              --- WWIVToss v.1.51         * Origin: http://www.weather-station.org * Bel Air, MD -USA (1:261/1304.0)    |
