The UPS has a ON/OFF button on it.

When I am finished using the XP or C=64 I turn the UPS Off until the
next time I will need the UPS On if it will be several hours B4 I need
it to supply power to my gear.

I bought it because of the occasional momentary power drop out that
   happens here.

I didn't have it supplying power to the C=64 until one time the wife
left my room and flipped the light switch off, and the C=64 was
connected to the switchable A.C. outlet in my room, that my lamp gets
   its power from.

The lights went out, came back on, she said "Sorry about that.", and I
saw 38911 BYTES FREE on the TV set I use with my C=64, when I got the
   TV Set turned back on.

I figured since I had a UPS, I'd run a extension cord from a socket on
the UPS to a power strip that didn't include surge protection circuitry
since I think the UPS has surge protection on its outlets, and supply
the power to my Commodore set up as well as the things I use with the
   XP box.

Now she could accidently turn the light off when leaving the room and
it wouldn't cause my eyebrows to raise.
