   This group started up prior to the WIN95 launch, so it's been running for 20   
   years or so... ever since the launch of WIN98, the name seemed a bit odd to me   
   - at that point we tried differentiating the Win95/98 OS's from the   
   WinNT-family of OS's.... but that's long been irrelevant.   
      
   When Win95 launched, this group was seeming as many as 300 new messages a day   
   and I had to be very vigilant to keep everyone on-topic. Now it's shrunk to an   
   all-subject chat group for a small group of people... I suspect it serves   
   little purpose other than social.
