Hi, Mark...

ML> DS> I'm not sure if this is the echo for it or not, but here goes.

ML>if it is about winwhatever, then this is the place ;)

    Well, that's a start.

ML> DS> I'm running Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 3, with just
ML> DS> under 4 Gigabytes of RAM and a 550 Gigabyte hard drive.

   ML>ok...

Figured I'd let folks know what OS I was using.

ML> DS> Every so often, I get a Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) error, and it
ML> DS> always references the file e1c5132.sys -- and notes "driver irq not
   ML> DS> less or equal".

ML>that appears to be the driver for an intel 82579v ethernet controller...
ML>according to compaq.com it is apparently a gigabyte nic... what network card
   ML>your system using?

It's an Intel 82579LM Gigabyte Network Connection. The problem didn't
show up until about a month ago.

ML>it is possible that there's a bug in that driver and possibly some traffic i
ML>causing some sort of heap or stack overflow... what is the version of that
ML>driver? you might be able to right click on it and look at the properties to
   ML>see...

Version 11.15.16 is what I noted.

ML>there's also an entry on some site that that file is classified as a trojan
ML>horse... i don't know that i trust that analysis and certainly not unless i
ML>analyze the file myself... if/when you find it to look at the properties, yo
ML>might email it to me in an archive... i think you have my wkitty42 gmail
ML>address, don't you? make sure you change the extension of the archive ;)

I saw that on some of the sites...plus some said you could check the
deal for free...but what they didn't tell you is that you had to buy a
certain program to fix it. To me, that's deceptive advertising.

I might have it in GMail, but I'm not sure. You can contact me at
wx1der at gmail dot com -- and I can send it that way.

Now my questions are, where to get a "replacement driver"?? And, I
guess I should install it in "safe mode"...but I'm not sure if it should
   go in \WINDOWS, \WINDOWS\SYSTEM, or \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory.

P.S. Thanks so much for the reply. :)
