   I have a ICOM 2330A 144/220 Mobile unit. I got it because of the old   
   west coast linked 220 repeaters(The Condor Connection). Used to be able   
   to talk all the way up in to Washington State from the San Diego area.   
   A lot of repeaters have dropped out and not it jsut operates in   
   California, parts of Nevada and Arizona

   In the old days 220 was more popular because it was the only VHF/UHF   
   band the Novice licence could operate on.   
   Sadly because of low use we lost part of the 220 band to Private   
   Commercial Interests
