Hi! Holger,              On 10/24/2014 09:13 AM, you wrote:               HG> BTW, I came to think about cheers vs. cheerio.               HG> Here in Europe the english talking are saying 'cheers' when they lift        HG> their glas of vodka. Or, "bottoms up".               HG> That may be the reason they don't use it as a farewell phrase.              Naturally. However I picked up that habit during my working career. It was       commonly used amongst the 'green skins' and 'boys in blue', and still is.              P.S. It was an interesting day's racing at the Gold Coast 600 today. More to       come tomorrow... the second half. (Strange way to do things but it's more of       tourist show as well, I guess.) It could get real entertaining if the weather       turns nasty, earlier than forecast for Monday.              Cheers,       Paul.              --- Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/24.6.0        * Origin: Paul's Puppy 4.2.1 multiuser vBox - M'boro, Qld, OZ (3:640/1384)    |
