There are several ways to start:       -snip-        HG> The bike must be MOVING before you lift the other foot on the        HG> corresponding pedal and AFTER THAT you can sit down on the        HG> seat.               HG> The correct way to place your feet on the pedals is with the        HG> big toe joint over the axle of the pedal, not the arch over the        HG> pedal axle.               HG> If you can stay upright with one foot off the ground (floor)        HG> you do have the balance needed for biking. If not, stay off any        HG> two wheeled bikes.              Thanks!, I will try that.       My technique usually is to have the pedals Level, Sit on the seat and       go, but that was probably 5 years ago that I rode a bike.              I am going to try placing a Concrete Block next to my Backyard Fence,       stand on it with the pedal on the other side of the bike UP and try       starting as You described.              If I fall towards the fence I won't fall far, and if I fall the other       way I will have the missus to keep me from kissing Mother Earth.              ...
