EV> EV> It was DOS 2.11 for my first experience, and I really liked it! The       EV> EV> XT had a 10MB HDD.              EV> RN> I bet that cost a lot back then.              EV>Howdy! Roger,              EV>The United States Government bought the thing, not me.              EV>The boss was given a 286 to replace the XT and told to have us use it       EV>instead of the Keyboard Terminal with the Acoustic Modem we were using.              Mentioning the 2865 CPU reminds me of an amusing computer happening at       the VA hospital I worked at. TheyPriot to the XT they had a variety od       Pripority Wrodprocessors and a few CPM machines. they had as big problem       with pripority document formats. They went to thew XT to spolved that in       they did a great job. Soem departments even set pu Networksd using coax       cable.       When the 286 came out and they decided to replace soem of hte older XT's       they had the purchising agend make up a bidding doxulment. Unfortunatly       he did'nt use detains but ust required that the machiens had a 286 CPU.       They bought 6 of theem and short;ly the clerks uning them were       complaining that they had to enter the date and time at every boot up.       It turned that the Mother board needed a clock card as it was a bottom       of the line that was the same as the XT mb except it re-designed to use       the 286 CPU       ---        þ SLMR 2.1a þ 0         * Origin: Check Out Doc's QWK Mail Via Web BBS > DocsPlace.org (1:123/140)    |
