   The first computer I bought didn't have an operating system at all.   
   It was a Sinclair ZX-81 with a Z80 processor. Everything I wanted it to   
   do I had to make in assembly language except for a rudimentary Basic   
   that was in a ROM.

   I haven't counted how many computers I have built or modified with new   
   mother boards and extension cards but I have never used IDE disks except   
   those that are built into portable computers.   
      
   I went straight from the old time MFM disks to SCSI disks and drives.
