In a message dated 09-24-14, Ed Vance said to Holger Granholm:              GA Ed,              EV> I used DOSBOX a few days ago and it reads the SyQuest Drive FB.              That's nice, congratulations.              EV> By reading the DOCS I learned to Press Ctrl-F4 after swapping       EV> cartridges.       EV> Doing that lets DOSBOX Use what's on another cartridge.              By clicking ctrl-L in XTree I can shift to another drive or CD.              With my first PC (AT) I received the XTree program that now in OS/2 is       named ZTree. That's the only file manager I use. I have tried others as       well but always gone back to Xtree/ZTree. It does have all the functions       you can ever dream of. Even if I have a registered copy of LIST I have       not used it for ages.              EV> I don't think I have to do the SyQuest Install with the ASPI, EPP       EV> etc. being put in a CONFIG.SYS file, because what I seen the other       EV> day shows I can Read (and probably Write) on any of my Cartridges in       EV> the SyQuest SCSI Drive using DOSBOX on the XP computer.              Of course you don't need an installation program since it works now.              EV> I Appreciate You helping me.              I'm glad if I can help anyone in trouble.              EV> I was looking at the BACK UP set of carts and it looks like I was       EV> using the Back Up program that is in MS-DOS 5.0 or in IBM PC-DOS 7.0       EV> on that computer.              If the .sys files in the root directory are io.sys and msdos.sys you       have a MS-DOS 5 system. The .sys files for PC-DOS are named ibmbio.sys       and ibmdos.sys. If you have the original PC-DOS 7 version they are dated       1994 and if you do have the updated version they are dated 1998.              MS-DOS v5 may not have support for cartridge drives.              EV> If I'm correct I just need to use the Restore Option in the Backup       EV> Prg. if that is how it's done.              Every back-up program must have a restore function since they may save       files in their own way which probably isn't compatible with others.              CU L8ER, Sam, OH0NC              aka Holger              ___        * MR/2 2.30 * Software never has bugs.
