   if that port is open to the outside of your LAN, yes... it is possible that   
   /if/ something nasty got into your network that it would travel to other   
   machines via that port...   
      
   it should be noted that without that port and at least two others being open,   
   machines on the same network won't be able to talk to each other for things   
   like sharing printers or even drive directories...
