When I run 60 second virus scan from Bitdefender I always see a section       in it about Open Ports on this XP box where svchost is using a Port.              The entry says it is Listening on Port 135 and I start worrying because       I remember reading on GRC.COM something about Port 135 shouldn't be       used because it could be used by something nasty.              Last night I was poking around in my Admin Account by clicking Tabs and       Advanced buttons and found out something about RPC.              Client for Microsoft Network Properties says something about       RPC Service and has two choices:              Windows Locator and DCE Call Directory Service              Windows Locator is what I saw that was selected on that setting.              I'm going to look in XP Help & Support to learn something about RPC but       I thought to also ask here to see if someone can clarify the issue for       me, thanks.              ... Any task worth doing, was worth doing yesterday.       --- MultiMail/MS-DOS v0.49       --- SBBSecho 2.12-Linux        * Origin: telnet & http://cco.ath.cx - Dial-Up: 502-875-8938 (1:2320/105.1)    |
