Hello, mark.              Sunday August 31 2014 at 15:24, you wrote to Daryl Stout:               ML>> of jkirk/at/mail.itt-tech.edu... i know it was a bad thing as soon               DS>> Nope...never attended the place. So it likely was a spoof.               ml> it was definitely a spoof which i already knew from the sending IP        ml> being in the phillipines and not associated with that domain ;)              I have an itt-tech.edu address (I'm an alumnus). You will never get       "mail.itt-tech.edu" since that domain does not exist. All of ITT's email is       run through Outlook.com and Office.com and doesn't have its own "domain" mail       services.              All students have an "itt-tech.edu" address. All staff and faculty have an       "itt.edu" (IIRC; been a while since I've checked).              It's easy to harvest addresses via SMTP from a mail server. I tried it once       via telnet (directly into a SMTP server) and it was child's play. It can be       (and probably is) easily automated to harvest email addresses.              Now IRCing via telnet is pretty hardcore these days. I used to do it in the       late 90s from a job I had. Raw telnet, baby!              Later,       Sean              --- GoldED/2 3.0.1        * Origin: Outpost BBS * Johnson City, TN * bbs.outpostbbs.net (1:18/200)    |
