   Hi Mark,

Well, IBM and Microsoft developed the HPFS system together but after
their divorce M$ took it along, changed some parameters so that they
no longer were compatible and renamed it to NTFS.

On my office machine OS/2 is running off HPFS partitions but the BBS
machine runs from FAT partitions. The FAT territory is well known to
me so if anything goes haywire it's easy to fix.

OS/2 does very seldom get crossed up so it is difficult to remember how
to recover whereas even child knows how to recover Windows, .

ml> aside: i have to wonder how JFS compares to other journaling file

That's unknown territory to me too.

   Have a nice day,

   Holger
