Hi! Holger,              On Sat, 09 Aug 14, you wrote to me:               HG> I just want to tell you that life goes on here.              Cool. It's what makes the world go round & round. ;-)               HG> Last thursday was a day with rain and thunder so I took that as an        HG> excuse for not doing my daily scandinavian walking.              That seems reasonable.               HG> Instead I removed the Nakamichi 5-disk changer from the old BBS       [ ...trim...]        HG> Today I let the machine run for an extended period and there were no        HG> signs of high temperatures. Anyway, it usually doesn't run long        HG> hours.              I applaud your adventures. I just like them to work these days. The most I       might do is move HDDs around; the last occasion was about 18 months ago, from       my eldest daughter's dead HP to my new Dell. We have that one plus two of my       youngest daughter's now-dead Dell laptops. I've tossed-out most of my old       (old!) junk. I just like them to work these days. Oops... I already said       that. :)               HG> Our hot (!) summer is coming to an end. From up to 30+ø C the        HG> tempera- ture has gone down about 5ø and for next week the forecast         HG> is for 20ø which is much more comfortable.              We haven't really had a proper winter. Oh, there were a few nights when I       slipped a folded light blanket over my knees while watching TV. For the most       part, I've been wearing board shorts & t-shirts, with a light polyester vest       or a light jogging top, oh, plus my ugg boots 'after dark'.               HG> Also I want to tell you that following the V8 Supercars series on        HG> Motors TV improves my knowledge of Australia just like amateur radio         HG> does.              Beaudy, mate. ;-)               HG> When I see a race the logo shows the name of the race, the last one        HG> was the "Ipswich 400". I know where Ipswich in England is but didn't        HG> know where in Australia the same named place was so I pulled out my        HG> World Atlas and located it. I've done the same for all the other races        HG> in that series. Sometimes though the logo only tells the name of the        HG> track so it can be a bit difficult to find out where that is. It's        HG> happened once.              Don't be afraid to ask. I'd certainly like to help. Ipswich is close to my       old town of origin (birth), Brisbane. It was a sort of a go-between place, on       the highway to somewhere else. These days it's a major metropolis.               HG> Have a nice winter.              Thanks for the thought but we're experiencing a kind of pre-Spring here. I've       been calling it Spring since 28 July, in fact. There's a bit of 'liquid       sunshine' about at present but we'll have beautiful weather from now till the       end of October. Then, it justs gets better. :)              Cheers,       Paul.              ... I got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory.       --- Paul's Win98SE VirtualBox        * Origin: Quinn's Post - Maryborough, Queensland, OZ (3:640/384)    |
