Stephen and Tom,              This morning I watched the screen and realize what was causing my       puzzlement about IDE and SATA when my XP box Boots Up.              There is a line on the screen that says: "Detecting IDE Drives"       That line stays on the screen for a second or two              and then 6 or 8 lines Flash on the screen for an instant showing what       CD and HDD the BIOS has found on the computer,              the screen goes dark and then the computer goes on to finish all it has       to do to Start Up my XP computer.              The line I see that says "Detecting IDE Drives" is what has been       causing my confusion because by my seeing it every time the computer       starts up it has made me think that the lines it shows below it are       about IDE Drives and this isn't true.              The CD Drive might be IDE but my HDD is SATA and seeing both drives       in the list after the "IDE" line is what has made me 'think' the       devices were all IDE and they aren't.              I just have to be more careful how I read what the computer shows me       on the screen.              ...
