   That is why I like my TiVo unit. It is my computer net because it   
   requires an internet connection and their $16 per service to work.   
   With their desktop program I can transfer recorded shows to a computer   
   one the LAN.   
   Since it was designed for streaming the videos to other devices on the   
   LAN it does the transfer in real time though.
