   Greetings Ed!

EV> I bought the same XP computer that my brother has.

    EV> HP a1430n

EV> He told me a neighbor suggested putting Windows 7 on his XP box
EV> since MS ended support for XP.

EV> Our PCs have a AMD 3800+ CPU,
EV> The OS is 32 bit XP Media Center Edition 2005 with SP3.

EV> Mine has 3GB DDR 400 Dual Channel 128-bit RAM,
EV> I think his still has the 1GB RAM istalled by the factory.

EV> Would Windows 7 work good on both of those PCs?

There's an easy way to find out. If you have the W7 install discs, the
first thing that W7 does is run an evaluation of your PC. If your PC is
compatable, then W7 will go ahead and install. If not, then W7 will
suggest that you upgrade/fix what is needed to have a successfull install.

i.e. my Dell laptop running Vista isn't compatable with W7 because of a
LAN card that W7 can find a driver for. Without that driver, I wouldn't be
able to access my home network, nor access the internet.

       Have a day!
