   absolutely they can... i've recovered too many machines to count by copying   
   the data from the NTFS drive to a FAT32 (or even ext2, ext3, reiserfs, and   
   others) drive... the data is easily copied... the ACLs may or may not but   
   they're generally not desired, either...
